      Humpty Dumpty

The truck was originally purchased by the first Owner in El Paso, TX back in 1957, then sold to the second Owner in 1960 who resided in Littleton, CO. Eventually the truck made its way to Michigan and was retitled in 1998 then sold to the third Owner in 2000. Greg became the fourth Owner when he purchased the truck in May of 2013.

From a distance, the truck appeared to be in great shape.  Greg took it for a test drive and within a half mile decided he would buy it, under the stipulation the Owner would drive it to his house. The steering components had the truck all over the road and the brakes were far from working as they should.  The Owner’s fix for that was to grab his 5/16″ box end wrench and bleed off some of the fluid so the brake shoe would back off of the drum.  The truck desperately needed a new engine and a carburetor tune up. Once the truck got home, Greg made as many repairs as he could to get the truck on the road.

After a few years of going to car shows and debating between a restomod or a restoration, Greg secured a great deal on a GM 350 crate engine with transmission that had only 1,200 miles on them.  At that point, he knew the route he was going to take.

He reached out to a local shop, got all the parts together and had them start on the tear down.  A year went by with little progress and the work was not meeting quality or expectations.  Greg stopped the work and brought the truck home.  He gave Motor City Solutions a call, received the quote and took some time to think it over before proceeding with the work.

The truck was a cab, a chassis and numerous parts leading to Greg referring to the truck as “Humpty Dumpty” and Motor City Solutions was the answer to putting it all back together again.  In mid-2020, the truck was back together again and Greg couldn’t have been happier.

Since he has taken it to a handful of shows and multiple cruises, however, has not had a chance to spend the whole day at a show to win any awards.  The truck always gets a lot of attention and we look forward to the day Greg brings home his first award for this beauty.
